8 Months

*Forgive the late post … working on day 10 of being sick.  I’ll get caught up eventually!*

Kamy sure has changed in the last month!  We took Kamy to JCPenney for her monthly photos this morning and got some really really cute ones.  I’ve included them throughout this post.

Here are her new milestones and accomplishments:

* Two new teeth are coming in.  Instead of the typical top middle teeth, she’s getting her upper canine teeth in.  It’s going to be super cute when she has a huge gap in her smile.  They’re just now really starting to emerge, so I don’t have any good photos of them yet.  Fortunately she hasn’t seemed overly cranky, so teething hasn’t been so bad.  <knock on wood>

* Kamy can now easily pull up on nearly anything and will stand for longer periods of time.  She’s also figured out how to shuffle sideways when something’s not quite in reach.  I’ve found myself moving things out of her reach more and more often lately.  I guess I need to do another round of baby proofing!

* McKamy is still eating like a champ!  She’ll easily finish off two jars of baby food at lunch and at dinner, so she’s already eating us out of house and home.  As long as it’s not green, she’s happy to munch on it.  I’m intending to introduce dairy around 9 months old, so we’re getting closer to yogurt and cheese and other milk products.  I am getting more comfortable with introducing non-pureed foods like crackers and biscuits.  I’m still super paranoid about choking, but I can’t feed her purees for the rest of her life.

* She’s also figured out how straws work … at least, how straws work when someone else is feeding her water.  She’ll open right up when she sees the straw.  What a cute little bird!  And in case you were wondering, straws are great to chew on as well.

* Kamy’s little fingers are getting more and more adept.  She can pick up just about anything – large water bottles and small leaves included.  She’ll also hold one thing in each hand now – another new trick for Kamy.

Here she’s trying to grab the ice cubes in Grandpop’s glass.  While she didn’t quite succeed, she did manage to make her fingers all red and cold from the ice.  Brr!

* We’ve officially moved up to the next size clothes – 12 months.  Kamy and I went shopping with Grandmindy about two weeks ago.  While hunting for the perfect Christmas dress, I realized that I was no longer shopping in the infant section but had moved to the toddler sizes to find 12 mo pieces.  I’m not ready to shop in that section yet!  Kamy’s growing up waaay too fast.  Where’d my little baby go?!?  One of the items I desperately needed to buy for Kamy was some new footed sleepers.  She looks so grown up in these!

* She’s still exploring like crazy.  I can’t put her down anywhere and expect her to remain in place longer than about 0.2 seconds.  She’ll either be climbing up my leg wanting to be picked up or heading off on an adventure somewhere.

*While Kamy certainly can make sweet little baby noises, she’s overall a pretty quiet baby.  She does see everything that happens around her though!  She’s learning that she can make noises by banging on different surfaces and hitting things together.

* Play time is getting more and more fun!  Smiles and laughs are even more frequent lately and she’s becoming more responsive to her name when we call her.  She’s even started to smile for camera when I pull it out!  It’s no longer the “black box.”

* Lastly, Kamy’s becoming more of a cuddler!  She’ll sit in your lap or next to you on the couch when she gets a little sleepy or just wants to watch what’s going on around her.  She’s been especially cuddly since we’ve both been sick.

We love you sweetheart … I couldn’t ask for a sweeter, smarter, more beautiful daughter.  You’re incredibly special and your Momma and Daddy love you so very much!
