Swimming at Oma’s

We stayed with Oma and Opa for a week in June.  One of the kids’ favorite things to do was go swimming!  The weather was plenty warm enough and the pool was just right.

At the beginning of the week Kamy was a bit skittish about the water.  She didn’t really want to be in past the steps and she didn’t trust that he swim floaties would hold her up.  She did like being on the raft though!  Kamy was fine swimming as long as we were holding her, but she didn’t want to float or kick by herself.  By the end of the week she was swimming like a pro!  Kick kick kick would move her around and she’d swim from one end of the pool to the other all by herself.

Caden was all over the place.  He liked to sit on the stairs and splash in the water, but he didn’t really like to be IN the water itself.  Most of the time he’d be chanting “Ahh dun,” asking to be put back on solid ground.

He did jump into the pool a few times from the side.  That is, until he decided to jump in at the deep end where I couldn’t touch the bottom.  He got a little dunked and was spooked from the water the rest of the week.  Silly boy!  He spent a lot of time running around the pool, climbing in and out from the steps, and spotting airplanes.  Each plane that flew overhead needed to be announced, and as my parents’ house is under a flight path for DFW, he was pointing to the sky about every 90 seconds or so.

Who can resist a good splashing?  It certainly drew Caden’s attention.

Everyone had a great time.  We love summer in Texas!
