Kamy – 4 Years Old!

Happy birthday to my sweet, precious, charming little girl.  I am so proud of the little girl that she has become and the young lady she will grow into.

We celebrated Kamy’s birthday by coming into DFW to visit family.  We had a great time seeing almost everyone and celebrating with her.  Kamy specifically requested a pink strawberry cake, and we were able to fulfill her wish by making a strawberry cake with strawberry cream cheese icing and pink sugar crystals.  It was delicious and VERY pink!

Kamy has figured out how to roll her tongue.  =)  Genetics determines if you are able to roll your tongue or not and Kamy has mastered it.  It took a lot of wiggling and fiddling and sticking her tongue out saying “mrmmm,” but she’s got it down now.  Silly girl!

Along with her newly minted year, someone has picked up a fierce independent streak.  We have a running battle of wills as she tests the rules and pushes to see how much she can get away with.  Unfortunately, the answer is still “not much,” but she’s checking anyway.  Kamy ended up with an additional hour and fifteen minutes on to nap time one day — added in five minute increments for not listening.  We haven’t quite reached “You can’t make me” yet, but that’s the general idea.  Her phrase of choice is “I won’t let you.”  She hasn’t realized that she doesn’t really have the power to keep me from putting her in her room.  <Sigh>  It makes for a tired Momma!

The week before Kamy’s birthday we came into DFW early while Keller had to travel for work.  Melinda kept Caden for two days while Kamy and I had a Momma-Kamy date.  We had a great time!  We spent went to Build A Bear workshop where Kamy picked out Twilight Sparkle (my little pony), rode the carousel twice, and picked out some candy from the candy store.  Then we bought a pint of neopolitan ice cream from the store and went back to the hotel to share it.  The hotel had a huge square bathtub which made for a wonderful bubble bath before bedtime.  The next day we played at the park, grabbed lunch, bought Kamy a headband with roses, and overall just enjoyed some much needed one-on-one time.

Kamy’s travel itinerary one day in March:  “I’m going to go to the palace and then we’re going to check out.  Then I’m going to the ball and eat breakfast really fast.  And then I am going to the castle to dance and do stuff with all the princesses.”  I think I have a girly-girl on my hands, don’t you?

We love getting to spend so much time with family — both when they are able to come out and visit us in Lone Star and when we can come into DFW.  I am so appreciative that our kids know their grandparents and great grandparents.

I think we are finally on the home stretch for potty training.  There are certainly still incidents, but by and large Kamy is taking care of business like she needs to.  She does have a tendency to run past the bathroom in order to whimper and whine “I need to use the potty…”  Well silly girl, just go!  You don’t need my permission or acknowledgment or attendance to take care of it.  Just do it!  =P

So happy birthday Miss Kamy-girl.  You’ve been such a precious part of our family for so long, I can hardly remember what it was like without you.  We love you more than words can express.
