McKamy and I keep on making the rounds and visiting family. I enjoy getting to socialize and visit with family and friends during the week — it helps me not feel cooped up at home. It also helps because by about 5 pm, I am completely out of ideas for how to entertain and teach Kamy. It’s hard work staying at home with her all day! Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t change it for anything, but it’s more challenging than I was expecting.
Monday we were able to hook up with Keller’s extended family – Doug and Bonnie. I think technically they are his Great Uncle and Great Aunt, so Kamy’s Great Great Uncle and Aunt. Maybe! I have a hard time keeping track of how first cousins and twice removed all work. Lol! We also ate dinner with Grandmindy, Garin and Payton at Anamia’s. We’re so glad that Garin and Payton found jobs here in the area this summer — it’s been wonderful to spend time with them! We don’t get to see them very often when they are at school in Arkansas. I know Kamy enjoys it!
Tuesday Oma came over to join us for lunch and several errands. I had some returns to do at Babies R Us. Of course, we also bought McKamy more clothes while we were there! She is right on the edge of growing out of her 0-3 month clothes – mostly due to how long her torso is. I was basically able to do a straight exchange for several cute outfits and onesies with the returns that I had to do. We also dropped by the quilt store and then made a stop at Hallmark for Father’s Day cards. Kamy thought there was SO much to look at in Hallmark – lot’s of pretty colors! Kamy’s such a smiley little baby that she makes people we run across in stores smile at her too. I love having a happy baby!
It’s so much easier to run in and out of stores when I have another set of hands to help with Kamy. It’s no longer just a two minute stop inside a CVS or gas station or Home Depot to grab something, but rather a trip all on it’s own. Oma’s favorite restaurant is Don Pablo’s, so we stopped there for lunch at one of the few locations that is still open. We had a nice time and it was great to get a few things off my check list.
Looking around at everything:
Wednesday McKamy got to play with Nana and Aunt Gina! She was a bit fussy at first, but once we filled up the little hole in her tummy, she was more than happy to just sleep in Gina’s arms. She’s so precious!
We’re heading to Oma and Opa’s house this afternoon before they make another trip up to Colorado to meet up with some family friends. It’s cloudy today, so we may or may not get in the water, but I’m sure we will have a good time.
Tomorrow, Keller and I are celebrating our FIVE year anniversary! I ‘s cannot believe it’s already been that long — time really has flown by. It’s hard enough to remember what life was like before McKamy, much less before Keller and I got married. I’ve got something special planned for it, so stay tuned for an update on our adventures. =)
The only really new thing McKamy has started doing is grabbing her toys on her own. Before if I put something in her hand, she’d close her fingers around it and hold on to it. But now, if she finds one of her toys, especially one of the rings next to her, she’ll pick it up and hold it and try to get it in her mouth!
She’s also spending a lot more time sucking on her hands this week. She still hasn’t reliably found her thumb yet, but she seems perfectly content to try to get her entire fist in her mouth. She hasn’t managed that so far! She’s started to make a lot more saliva now and hasn’t figured out exactly what to do about it, so her hands are perpetually wet. I keep a cloth handy at all times for wiping them (and me!) down.
How fun! Kamy already has such a busy social calendar – what a cute little social butterfly! I agree – I LOVE having a second set of hands during errand time. Makes things so much easier. I do have to say it helped a lot when Ian could finally sit up on his own. I can’t wait until he can walk into places with me instead of having to be carried, in a cart, or in a stroller (I know there will be a new set of challenges with that, but I really am looking forward to it).
