… everywhere you go.
I’ve had that song stuck in my head for the last two weeks! I am so glad that Christmas is almost here – I always enjoy the holidays.
Because we moved in the middle of December this year, I wasn’t sure if I’d end up pulling out all my Christmas decorations or not. I was really hoping that it would make sense to spend the time — and I’m so glad now that I did! The house is definitely not unpacked yet, but it’s feeling more like home and more like the holidays now that our Christmas trees are up.
Yes, I did say trees. Plural! This is the first time we’ve had a second tree in our home, and it’s a real tree at that! Oma and Opa brought two little trees home with them from Colorado and gave us one to set up. It has a place of honor in our living room and really spreads the Christmas cheer throughout the house.
One of my Christmas traditions is to set up “Momma’s” Christmas tree.
What’s Momma’s Christmas tree? It’s my Christmas tree. You see, I am very picky when it comes to how I decorate my tree. I love the look of an all white and silver tree. All my decorations are silver, glass, or white. Combined with white lights on the tree, and you have Momma’s Christmas tree.
If you know me very well, you know that I love anything to do with snowflakes. I have snowflake bowls, mugs, towels, sheets, pjs … you name it, I’ve probably got it with snowflakes on it. Some of my most cherished snowflake items are my glass ornaments. I bought them years ago at a little store in Grapevine and haven’t found them again since. It’s fortunate that I bought all they had! They’re scattered throughout the tree and add the perfect touch.
Keller even set up the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge train around the base of the tree. The cats aren’t sure what they think about it, but it looks great.
As a result of my picky-ness, all the ornaments that we’ve collected over the years that aren’t white, glass, or silver end up in the box – waiting for another year. We’ll start setting up two trees consistently next year – Momma’s tree and the family tree. That way we have a special home for all the ornaments that have been gifted to us and a home for the various ornaments that Kamy will get and make over the years. So, a day or two after Christmas this year I’ll be hitting the stores hunting for a second pre-lit Christmas tree for our family tree.
And now, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
Love your decorations! And love Momma’s tree! What a good idea…ours is a mish-mash of different items this year and it’s not fully put together. Ian likes to hand me ornaments at break-neck speed, so I just throw them on the tree quickly so I can take the next ornament he is handing me.
