July 4th

Granpops came out to our house for a few days at the beginning of July.  They kids had a great time playing with him and we really appreciated him taking the time to come out and visit.

Since his trip lined up with the 4th of July, we were able to celebrate with him!  While most of the restaurants in Longview are closed for Independence Day, we did find an open one and then headed to the Kroger parking lot to watch fireworks.  It was the same lot that we watched them from two years ago with Payton.  Since we had great weather, we spread blankets in the bed of the truck and enjoyed the evening.

Daddy and Granpops went into Kroger and came back with glow sticks and Blue Bell ice cream!  The kids loved helping themselves to the ice cream and made the rounds between cookies and cream (mine), mint chocolate chip (Daddy’s), and strawberry (Granpop’s).  Caden’s favorite seemed to be the cookies and cream while Kamy preferred the mint chocolate chip.  They weren’t picky though!

Somehow this game evolved from the spoons …

Otherwise we just hung out until the show began.

We had a pretty good viewing spot for the fireworks.  Kamy wasn’t as interested this year — she was super wiggly and was more interested in playing with the glow stick necklace and trying to get our attention than she was in watching the fireworks.  Caden was more laid back and hung out with Daddy during the show.  It probably helped that it was way past his bedtime and he was fairly cuddly.  =)
