March was a fun month for Caden. Â Between Kamy’s birthday, seeing family, and playing outside, it’s been busy!
One afternoon we went to the Mineola Nature Preserve with our homeschool group and explored. Â It was a beautiful area and the kids loved getting to run around and play with their friends. Â The setting was pretty awesome too!
He’s been loving his preschool 2 gymnastics class and can’t wait for it happen again. Â He really likes his coaches and it has been amazing for his flexibility, movement, and self awareness. Â He is always walking on handrails and climbing trees. Â Caden still uses the little trampoline we gave him at Christmas on a daily basis. Â One day in class they had a handstand challenge. Â All the kids had to do a handstand against the foam wall and see how long they could hold it. Â Caden stayed up(side down) for more than a minute and ended up in second place! Â He immediately burst into tears when it was over because he said he arms hurt, but he was fighting to try to win it! Â I don’t usually see a lot of competitive spirit from him, so I was proud of how hard he tried.
While Kamy and Daddy ran the Fresh 5K, Caden, Granpops, and I cheered them on at the finish line. Â After the 5K, both kids ran in the Little Freshie 1K race. Â Caden didn’t quite realize how far 1K is, and as he hadn’t been practicing, he was disappointed when he wasn’t “first” and had to walk a couple of times. Â He did power through it though and got a finisher’s medal too.
Caden is a singer! Â Now, I wouldn’t say he’s a prodigy at this point, but he loves to sing. Â Where? Â In the bathroom. Â Because that’s apparently when you do your best singing — in the potty! Â It’s usually when he is washing his hands, but inevitably we’ll hear him singing from the bathroom. Â =) Â Speaking of the potty, Caden has started wearing undies at night! Â I’m taking him to the bathroom a few hours after going to sleep, but he’s staying dry for the most part. Â Maybe we’ll get out of the last few diapers eventually!
Caden has been enjoying the 1000 books challenge at the Tyler Library. Â He loves writing his name on the shapes to put on the wall when they reach the next 100 book threshold. Â He’s grouped all the shapes in one area, so it is a swarm of “Caden” at the top of the trees.
Emotions continue to be a little bit of a struggle for Caden. Â Four is a tough age, and he’s having to learn how to deal with frustration in particular. Â It’s usually driven by something Kamy did (or didn’t do), but I earn my fair share by enforcing those pesky house rules. Â He’s doing better, but that little temper has a tendency to flare up and end with slammed doors.
Lastly, Caden had a blast at the Easter egg hunt. Â He filled his bucket to the BRIM and was tucking suckers in on the sides just for more capacity. Â Then they both had a blast hunting for eggs in and around the yard. Â Caden being the sweet brother he is, gives candy to Kamy and lets her have some of his eggs if he ends up with more than her. Â For all his little temper flares, he still has a super sweet heart and is incredibly giving and thoughtful to Kamy. Â He’s my sweet boy!
