Caden has a favorite number. Â It is 1055 — “one thousand fifty five.” Â Why? Â He doesn’t know, he just likes it and uses it all the time! Â We’ve been talking about rating scales, but Caden is missing something with his consistency of scoring. Â One day the scale will be out of 100, the next day out of 500, the next day may be out of 1055. Â So it’s hard to say if a 99 is good or not!
Caden has always had a special spot for Jess. Â This was made abundantly clear one afternoon, with emphasis as spoken:
Caden: “Daddy, I love you 1055.  And I love Jess 1056.  Which is MORE.”
The kids completed Caden’s save file on Yoshi’s Wooly World this month too. Â Kamy’s account was completed first, but Caden had collected more Yoshi characters on the way, so he had some bragging rights too. Â Mellow mode is a great option for the kids because it allows them to do some of the harder levels together and not worry about dying. Â Both kids are pretty good at the Wii platformer games now though, so I am not always a net-benefit when playing.
Caden finished the summer program for gymnastics this month. Â He’s registered to continue in the Boys class that starts at the end of the month. Â There is only one coach who handles the boys classes, so it will be pretty identical to the summer program. Â Caden still loves the physical outlet and getting to run around and do cool stuff! Â His favorites are trampoline and P bars (parallel bars).
For school, Caden is working through his math curriculum — focused primarily on addition and introducing reading clocks. Â We’re also working on identifying and counting coins. Â Caden is really enjoying the unit on Africa right now and loved listening to the Anansi the Spider folktales. Â Caden also likes to pick “school books” to read before bedtime — books that build on what we’re currently studying or go more in depth about how something was done (ie — building the pyramids for the pharaoh mummies).
