Saturday and Sunday were the last two days of our stay in Durango. We stayed at the cabin all day and just enjoyed spending time with everyone, the beautiful weather, and the scenery.
Min has several photos of Keller, Garin, and Payton in various poses at the cabin from when they were growing up, so she wanted to recreate them with Kamy and Caden.
Min and Payton left to drive back to DFW on Sunday morning, so Sunday during the day was just me and the kids while Daddy slept for our drive over night. We went on a couple walks, did nap time, ate dinner, and cleaned up the cabin before hitting the road around 7pm.
The drive itself was a bit rockier than the drive up. Unfortunately, neither kid was particularly worn out like they were on the way up. Caden did not want to go to sleep in the truck and fought it entirely too long. Kamy fell asleep but Caden woke her up with his crying. Then BOTH kids were crying! Oh noes. We ended up stopping somewhere in the middle of nowhere — we got out, looked at the stars and listened to the crickets. It was dark as a pocket out there, but the stars were beautiful. It was memorable enough for Kamy to bring it up today! Long drive story short, we finally made it to DFW after a detour for breakfast, another side-of-the-highway stop for Mr. Caden, and lunch on the way to Argyle. We were ALL ready to get out of the truck at that point.
Oma and Opa had been up in Colorado as well, so the house was empty when we got there. Oma and Opa got home Monday night. Fortunately both kids took decent naps, so I got a bit of sleep during the day. We ended up spending Tuesday in Argyle as well, since we were all tired of driving and having another day of help with the kids was quite appealing. Both kids enjoyed spending the time with Oma and Opa — feeding the horses, swimming in the pool, and going for a walk in the rain.
All in all, we had a wonderful trip! We had a great time but we were so ready to get home too. =)
