We had a wonderful, family-filled Christmas season. We were blessed to get to see nearly all our close family over the holidays and were grateful to get to share the season with them. Because we would be traveling so much, we opted to do our own Christmas gift exchange at home before driving into DFW. It was very low-key. I didn’t decorate the house since we were not going to be home much and most of the Christmas decorations are still packed away in the storage unit. I’m optimistic that this time next year we will be moved to our new ranch (where ever that will be!) and I will be able to pull out all the decorations. That being said, the kids were thankful for their gifts and it was a little teaser to the rest of the holidays.
Saturday morning the 20th we celebrated Christmas at Min’s house. Payton and Corinne were in town as well, so we had a great Christmas morning. The kids were wonderful elves and did a great job waiting patiently until their turn. Kamy’s favorite gift of the morning was her new “Pink Fuzzy Blanket” and Caden loves his new sandbox.
Saturday afternoon we went over to Grandmommy and Grandbobby’s house for the extended family party. We had a wonderful time catching up with all the cousins and watching the newest generation play together. There are currently eight great grandchildren, with another on the way. Kaylie is certainly the ring leader and they play so well. It’s a ton of fun to see them play and laugh and run around together.
Sunday we met up with Nana, Granpops, and Gina for brunch at Old West. Then we went back to Nana’s house for munchies and round four. Kamy’s particularly fond of the new dish washing set from Gina and Caden really likes his backhoe! Nana even made all the ladies (and Caden!) shirt aprons.
We spent the next couple of days at Min’s house and visiting Granpops before driving up to Colorado to see Oma and Opa. We left Christmas Eve and drove straight through to Pine. I’ll leave the photos of our trip for another post, but here are some from Christmas morning. Once again, Kamy and Caden were very helpful and passed around all the gifts under the tree (Regine was a pro at directing them). As with last year, the kids’ favorite gift was all their snow gear! We were able to reuse a few items from 2013, but Oma did a great job getting all the necessary clothes and boots and gloves and scarves and hats and and and needed to play outside.
Thank you to everyone for making Christmas a special time — the gifts are certainly appreciated and enjoyed, but the opportunity to spend time together is the best part.
