This was our second annual 4th of July! We had a fabulous time together. We had to dodge a bit of wet weather here and there, but that just gave us an opportunity to spend some time playing board games inside. The fireworks were excellent and everyone had great fun.
The kids spent nearly all their time in the water and were so happy to be little water bugs. You’ll see in the photos — they were rather prune-y after the weekend.
Keller, Garin, and Payton also had an epic attempt to sink the canoe. I remember when we were little, we would flip the canoe on purpose to stand on the bottom. These guys took it to another level and they were attempting to submerge the canoe with Payton inside it. Hilarity ensued and I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard. No, they weren’t able to do it, but they had a lot of fun in the attempt. They topped it off with “king of the hill” on the canoe.
There was plenty of delicious food, quiet naps in the hammocks, and general down-time that makes spending the day in Linden so restful.
Until next year … likely at our new place!
Believe it or not, both Min and Jess were there too. Somehow they didn’t end up in any of the photos, but maybe that’s because they didn’t swim. Then again, neither did I. <wink> Hopefully I’ll do a better job getting photos of everyone next time around. =)
