I’ll probably start making McKamy’s food from scratch, but I want to figure out what she likes and is interested in before going through all the hoops to steam, mash, puree, strain, and freeze home made baby food.
Keller and I have decided that we are going to do what we can to feed Kamy organic foods. The cost is not much greater than regular produce (or baby food), but the lack of pesticides and potentially harmful chemicals eases our minds. No, there is not conclusive evidence that regular baby food isn’t safe, it just does not make sense for us to ignore a potential problem if we can avoid it. If nothing else, we can at least choose to use organic foods with fruits that are known for having a higher concentration of pesticides in them.
After turning down both peas and green beans last week, it was time to try something else. Next on the list? Pears! While it’s only one letter away from peas, they sure do taste better and had a much better reception! Kamy polished off a full jar in two sittings and definitely approves!
We also got Kamy’s high chair back this weekend! This is the same high chair that Keller and his brothers used when they were little. The finish was a bit beat up from three kids and storage, so we sent it off to get refurbished. What a difference! They stripped the old varnish off and reapplied a new lacquer (?). It looks great!

Kamy is still a bit too small to sit in it alone, but we managed to wedge the Bumbo seat inside of the high chair. What a big girl!
