Caden is quite the dancer! He loves to move around to the music — especially his legs and feet! He does most of his movement below his hips, bends his knees and goes to town. It’s super cute, if a little unorthodox.
Caden has his own Christmas tree in his room this year. This was the first year he’d asked for one, so I found a little 3′ green tree locally and bought it for his room. He always likes some light on when he goes to bed, so the Christmas lights were perfect! He got to choose several ornaments off the family tree to hang on it, in addition to the one he bought at DisneyLand.
Both kids helped Daddy set up the model train around the Christmas tree this year. They love to see it run in the loop, though some of our connections were a little spotty at time. I think it had something to do with the “helpers.”
Someone decided that reading at night was “too boring.” He is usually ready for bed right at bedtime, so having to sit still and pay attention to a story was a little more than he was really ready to commit to. He is a wiggler and being tired only amplified his struggle to listen to the story.
Caden thought the Polar Express trip was “okay.” He liked dancing with the train elves and getting a silver bell from Santa though!
One afternoon I had the following conversation with Caden:
Caden: Momma, what’s the bug called that is stinky?
Me: A stink bug.
Caden: Oh yeah. It was stinky but it is still stinky.
Me: Did you squish it?
Caden: Yes, but it still stinks!
Caden and I built a massive train track one afternoon! The kids received new track pieces and accessories for Christmas, so now there are a million pieces to work with. I think we accomplished our goal!
Caden ALMOST made it to midnight on New Years Eve. He literally fell asleep at 11:50pm, while we were watching a movie. He was being really sweet though, laying down with his head in my lap and he was not at all concerned about staying awake to midnight.
School is still going well. Caden is more than half way through kindergarten math and is doing great. His handwriting is also getting more consistent and he is comfortable using lower case letters instead of just capitals now. Caden loves reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as much as Kamy does! Caden is a bit bothered by all the warring and battles that we cover in history. Most of what we read talks about Country A attacking Country B which then is attacked and controlled by Country C. Caden is not a fan of war and he has told me many time that he does “not want to live where there is a war.” I know sweet boy, and I agree. It is a sad truth that much of human history has been recorded in battles over the millennia.
