Caden had a blast on our One on One day! I reserved tickets for us to go to the Legoland Discovery Center at Grapevine Mills mall. Caden really enjoyed it! I thought it was just okay, but Caden happily spent two hours in the center and then we spent another hour digging through the bins in the gift shop to buy some special pieces to add to his collection. There was a 3D movie, two little rides, and some Lego style cars to drive. Caden especially enjoyed building a castle with the massive foam Legos and building a little car to race down ramps.
After Legoland, Caden found a bungee trampoline. Bounce bounce bounce!
Next we went to Sunshine Glaze pottery in Southlake. Caden picked out a mug and spent almost an hour getting it all painted. He thought that was really cool and got to make it just how he wanted to. Unfortunately the glaze didn’t set correctly, so we would end up coming back in December to try again. We grabbed dinner at an Italian restaurant in Grapevine before heading to Half Price Books and then back to Min’s house.
Caden’s little emotions have been more volatile this month. Perhaps six is going to be a hard age for him. He is a little more short tempered than we are used to and more grumbling is occurring from his side of the room. I’m hoping it’s just a temporary thing!
For Thanksgiving, the kids made leaf place cards for the table. We always enjoy having family and friends out to visit and this year was no exception. Unfortunately, Regine was unable to come at the last minute due to work, but everyone else made it for at least part of the holiday weekend. Caden really liked helping build the Thanksgiving lasagnas too!
Caden wanted to help hang Christmas lights on the outside of the house, though he couldn’t reach quite as much as Kamy could. He did help with the railings. He loves to turn on the Ho Ho Ho switch! Daddy also gave the kids a “ride” on the z boom lift we rented to get the lights in the upper sections.
We rolled right into second grade math this month! It starts with review and builds from there. He’s also getting much more confident with his spelling — he’s keeping up with Kamy pretty easily (though his handwriting itself does need a bit of polish).
Caden gave me some precious smiles for our mini photo shoot one evening and even climbed into a tree for the occasion. =)
