Caden is all boy, all the time. There’s a reason for the gender stereotypes in our culture … they’re often based on actual fact! He loves to play in the dirt, get messy, and find bugs. If he finds a bug he likes, he will play with it for 15 or 20 minutes and they’re “best good friends,” until Caden is ready to move onto something else and he’ll promptly squish the bug. Caden also has a love-hate relationship with June bugs — they’re pretty big and are a little intimidating, but he wants to play with them soooo badly. And according to Caden, they’re “junior bugs,” not June bugs.
A certain goofy boy asked for “gubble bum” flavored toothpaste one evening. It was pretty precious.
Caden loved picking strawberries this spring. I wouldn’t say he contribued much to the buckets, but he did consume his weight in strawberries across the three trips we took to pick them. That boy loves strawberries!
Caden is expressing more interest in helping in the kitchen. Kamy’s always on hand to participate, but Caden is making a point of being involved too. We’ve started alternating who gets to help make breakfast in the morning … much to Kamy’s dismay. She’d rather lock up the rights to helping on her own.
On occasion Caden gets to play on the Wii by himself. In May he was most interested in MarioKart and actually did really well! It really helps him focus when he is playing alone and doesn’t have everyone else’s screens to watch instead of his own. He can win on 50cc (the easiest setting) and has started to earn stars for winning on the tracks. He’s pretty proud of himself!
He is such a sweet boy and so incredibly encouraging. He loves to watch Daddy play video games and will say, “Good job!” and give a pat when something goes well. Caden’s got a heart of gold and I’m so lucky to be his Momma. He loves on everyone. =)
