SO! I’m going to work on catching the blog back up to “real time!” Things have obviously been crazy busy July – September, but I’ll do my best to keep new posts coming your way.
June was a fun month for both kids!
Keller and I celebrated our tenth wedding anniversary, so we went into DFW to visit family. We spent a day with Granpops before passing the kids off to Min. Min kindly kept the kids for the weekend while we went out.
We stayed in a nice condo in Uptown Dallas, explored the Dallas Arboretum and the Frontiers of Flight Museum at Love Field, enjoyed nice dinners at Lawry’s and Kenny’s and, to top it all off a hot air balloon ride over McKinney. We had such a nice time spending one-on-one time that can be hard to come by. We really appreciated Min keeping the kids for us, and the kids had fun with her at the same time!
In June we also treated the kids to a week of gymnastics camp! Kamy’s dance studio only runs during the school year, so she was disappointed to not have an activity to do each week. I didn’t really want to commit to driving into town just for Caden’s weekly class, so we decided to enroll both kids in the half day day-camp at gymnastics. It was daily from 8:15am – 11:30am and both kids could do it together. They both had a lot of fun and had so much to tell me and show me at lunch each day.
Caden has decided that his jammies are “uncomfortable” to wear at bed time. For some reason, they just aren’t right. So instead, he’s been changing out of his clothes into a second set of clean clothes for bed time. Oh well — as long as they’re clean and getting put in the laundry. If you want to sleep in jeans — have at it silly boy!
We spent a day out in Linden with Oma and Opa. The kids love to swim and had so much fun splashing around in the water, playing on the sandy beach, and jumping in. Caden’s a little water bug and would happily spend all day in the water if I’d let him. Linden is such a special place to me and it makes me happy to see Kamy and Caden making their own memories out there.
Lastly, Caden’s vocabulary and story telling ability has really increased this month. He’s getting much better at sequencing events … though admittedly anything in the past is “yesterday” and anything in the future is likely “tomorrow.” He does have a tendency to get caught in a loop when recounting stories. I think his little brain gets carried away thinking about everything he wants to say and instead forgets what he was going to say. It’s pretty precious! I love watching his little mind work and see how he finds new ways to put his world into words.
