Learning

As of this morning, Miss McKamy is up to a whopping 9.8 pounds!  I thought she was going through a growth spurt this past week and apparently so.  She’s certainly more of an armful when you’re carrying her around.  I love spending time with my baby girl!

(Not quite in focus but there are just a few photos of me with Kamy since I’m the one taking the pictures I had to include it anyway.  Not too bad for holding the camera up above us to take the shot.)

McKamy is getting more and more aware of her surroundings and starting to recognize cause and effect with her actions.  She’s definitely learned that crying means she’ll get picked up and attention to fix whatever is the cause of her distress.  She’s also learning how to wiggle around to get more comfortable, relax into you if you’re holding her, and grab onto things.

The most recent target of finger-grabbing has been Momma’s hair.  It fits just right into her little hands and it’s fun to watch Momma make a face of her own while trying to pry the little fingers open to release it.  I think I’ll have to put away the dangle earrings for a while until she can learn they aren’t up for ‘grabs.’  Lol!

Last week she discovered her tongue!  She already makes the cutest faces at us, but adding in the puzzled look on her face while messing with her tongue is hilarious!  I haven’t really caught any good photos of it yet but I’m working on it.  When she concentrates on it, she’ll spend a solid two or three minutes sticking it out, moving it around, poking it at us, and generally being hilarious about it.  Granted, she tends to do this while being held, so it makes it hard to get pictures of it unless the camera is in reach at the time.  Here’s one of her tongue, but it’s not in focus unfortunately.  =(

Kamy and Momma spent nearly ten minutes earlier today making faces at each other!  I really got some cute photos, though there are definitely some expressions I haven’t managed to catch on film yet.  My approach?  Just keep taking pictures until you get a good one of what you’re looking for.  One of the great things about digital cameras is the ability to take a zillion (or in my case, 53 today) and not worry about wasting film if it’s not in focus or not quite right.  Just delete the photo and move on.

Here are some of the best from today:

More photos to come!
