Little Baby Noises

One of the things that can always make me smile when spending time with McKamy is all her little baby noises.  She makes quite a few!  Some are happy sounding.  Some are upset.  Some are even sad.  But all are precious!  She is even starting to make little noises while she’s awake, just for the sake of making sounds.  Those definitely make us smile!

  • Little dreaming sounds – These are my favorite.  Whimpers and squeaks and stretches.  Yesterday she even was making a rhythmic creaking noise that sounded like a rocking chair rocking back and forth.  It was adorable!
  • Sighs – Big drawn out sighs, like the weight of the world is on her shoulders.  Little, breathless sighs as she is getting comfortable and about ready to sleep or has a happy full tummy.  Sighs as she squirms around in her swing while sleeping.
  • Crys – It’s amazing how many different nuances there are to her cries.  I’d always heard that parents can tell what’s wrong by the sound of the cry but now I know it’s true!  Some mean she is cranky or tired or wet.  Some say she is lonely and wants to be held.  Some say “I’m so upset!”  Now that her little tear ducts are starting to work, these last ones really pull at your heart strings, cause those little tears are so sad!
  • Upset Squeaks – When McKamy really gets worked up and is crying hard, she adds another entertaining sound – squeaks!  She cries so hard that when she takes a breath to go again, she squeaks.  It honestly sounds just like a little squeeze squeaky toy.  It’s hilarious to listen to and it’s hard to keep from laughing when she is so upset.
  • Hiccups – So sweet and yet so sad!  Most babies are really bothered by hiccups and will cry, which usually makes them go away.  McKamy isn’t super bothered by them though, so they’ll just go on and on and on.  Poor little girl, they make her whole body shake.

I haven’t caught any of these noises with the camera recorder yet, but I’ll try to so we can show her one day what it was like.

Here are a few pictures from the last couple of days:

Sweet baby girl, we love you!
