Oma and Opa came back from Colorado on Wednesday. They’d been traveling around the SW United States with my Aunt Greet and Uncle Api – Oma’s sister and brother in law from Holland. It was their first trip to the US, so they had a whirlwind trip and traveling planned while they were in town. Unfortunately we weren’t able to meet up with them, but it sounds like they’re having a wonderful time!
Kamy and I went up to Oma and Opa’s house on Thursday to spend some time with them. Regine was at their house too, so it was a treat to get to visit with her. We hadn’t seen Oma and Opa in nearly three weeks because of their trip. Needless to say Kamy’s grown a lot since then! It’s amazing how much she can change in three days, much less three weeks.
Greet and Api sent a wrapped gift for McKamy – a Dutch book called Dikki Dik, about an orange cat that lives on Sesamstraat (Sesame Street). While she’s definitely not ready to read it yet, it’s got lots of colors to look at. However, Kamy was fascinated by two parts of the gift — the wrapping paper and the envelope from the card! She had a blast trying to get it in her mouth and chew on the paper. It crinkles and changes shape and texture when it gets wet. And it’s quite colorful! There wasn’t much left of the envelope after she got a hold of it either. Lol!
My Oma and Opa (my mom’s parents) also sent a card and photo with well-wishes for McKamy. I hope that we can make a trip over there in the next year or so to spend some time with family overseas and introduce her to her extended family!
Chewing on the envelope while Oma talks to Aunt Joan in France:
It’s been really hot here lately, but Kamy was still up for getting in the pool with Oma for a little while. She didn’t stay out too long because it was really sunny and we didn’t want her to get sunburned. You can tell she was having a great time though!
Then Friday, Kamy and I went to see Grandmindy in the afternoon. Kamy was helping Grandmindy pick out some new goodies from Crate and Barrel! She showed her preferences by eating the pages! There wasn’t much left of the magazine by the end of the day. Keller was also able to join us for dinner that night after he got off work.
All this running around makes Kamy one tired little girl! I love the photos of her sleeping because she’s so still and calm. She’s such a little busy-body normally, so it’s only when she’s particularly tired or asleep that she’ll lay still and cuddle.
