Seven Months and Counting …

Wow, I can’t believe it’s time for another monthly post!  I swear this year has flown by faster than any year before.  Has it really been seven months already?

Little Kamy is getting not-so-little now … she’s getting big!  She’s up to 15.5 pounds and is starting to build up the little rolls on her thighs again.  If the past is any indication, that means she’s prepping for another growth spurt.  New clothes, here we come!  =)

In the last month, Kamy’s been quite busy!

  • She’s a pro at walking with assistance.  She is very purposeful about taking steps, is walking straighter all the time, and can really cruise around when she’s motivated.

  • McKamy has also started to pull herself up on things and use furniture to help keep her balance.  She doesn’t always wait for someone else’s hands to hold her up.  As a result, we lowered the crib down a notch so when she starts standing up in her bed she won’t be able to climb out (yet).

  • She’s eating better and better.  We’ve officially added a second solid food feeding each day and it’s going quite well.  Kamy knows the routine when she gets in the high chair and the thumb is becoming less and less of an interference in the feeding process.
  • We’re right on the edge of crawling.  She consistently gets on her knees and has started rocking back and forth.  She will even move her little feet and try to get traction on the carpet!  Now she just has to figure out how to move her hands and she’ll be off and crawling.  The need for child-proofing the house is rapidly approaching!

  • Kamy’s almost figured out how to sit up on her own.  She’s done it twice (that I’ve seen), but I don’t think she really knows how it happened yet.  Since she’s up on her knees a lot now, I think she’ll figure it out soon!
  • Two little teeth have popped through.  The very sharp points surfaced three days ago and the width of each tooth is peeking through now.  My they’re sharp!  Insert your fingers at your own risk!  Fortunately they don’t seem to be bothering her too much … her gums really haven’t become red or inflamed and she’s not overly fussy.  I’m crossing my fingers that all her teeth will go this smoothly!
  • McKamy is also getting more and more independent.  She still doesn’t stay where I put her down and I routinely find her across the room and playing with curtains, furniture, or the cats.  She’ll also play by her self on the floor with her toys for up to 30 minutes.  It makes it soooo much easier to get things done around the house during the day.  Thanks baby girl!

  • Kamy started to buzz her lips again!  She used to buzz them all the time and make little raspberry noises that were so cute!  She had stopped doing it for the last two months or so, but she started up again.  It’s so cute!  At this point it tends to be pretty wet too with all the extra saliva from teething … dribble dribble dribble.  She’ll even mimic other people doing it some times which I find super cute.

  • Lastly, we’re finally getting into a nap and bedtime routine!  Hooray!  I’ve been one tired Momma these last 3 months since she stopped sleeping through the night.  We only get up twice a night for changing diapers and feeding the girl, so that’s quite a bit of progress from a max of 5.  She’s also added a solid morning nap — at least an hour long and sometimes two.  Woohoo!

Happy 7 months little Kamy … we love you so much!  Thanks for being such an awesome, good girl.  Your Momma and Daddy love you very much!
