So this past week(end for Keller), we headed out to Linden again to start our new project. We’re building a new deck down by the lake. It’s our first real building project that we’ve tackled and so it’s been quite a learning experience! While we certainly aren’t done yet, we made our goal for the trip – we got the posts in the ground and the beams in place. We’ll be going out again soon to install the joists and decking.

Would you believe it took us 4 days to get here? Whew!
McKamy did great on our trip! She usually is quite a handful and I wasn’t sure how much I’d actually be able to work on the deck. She was perfectly happy in her swing for a long time and was fascinated by watching the cement mixer or Daddy using power tools.
The weather was absolutely gorgeous too. We got the first hint of frost Saturday night and woke up to an eerily foggy morning. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a sunrise like this before. It was beautiful!

Fall is definitely here too, especially now that the maple and dogwood trees are turning.
There were several ducks out on the lake each morning too … including this male wood duck.
We had a great time!
Job well done!!!! well, job started any way. I think it working with tools and especially power tools is very impowering. It is great that you are both enjoying the project. I look forward to seeing photos of the finished deck. Loved the sunrise photos. It reminds me of a winter morning at Linden before we had the cabin when I woke up with frost on my sleeping bag and the lake partially frozen!
