Fort Worth Museum of Science and History

Another DFW day trip we took was to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.  Min came with us too, which freed up my hands to take photos since we were now three on two.  =)

There is a dedicated section of the museum for children, especially for under 8. While it wasn’t that big, there were several neat activities for the kids to do.

Walking was still pretty new for Mr. Caden, so he spent a lot of time exploring on two feet and seeing what he could get into.

Caden’s favorite activity was the bubble machine.  When you pushed a button, the bubbles stopped and it made a musical sound.  He thought it was so cool.  He LOVES buttons … just like his Daddy.

Kamy’s favorite was probably the grocery store and check out station.  Kid sized shopping carts, baskets of play food, and a hand cranked conveyor register were so much fun to play with.

In the dinosaur exhibit, they had a computer program to put the bones of a dinosaur in place.  Kamy loves puzzles, and she was really quite good at it!  This was the first puzzle she’s done that is more abstract — the overall dinosaur outline was in place but not identical shapes for where to put the bones.  I was impressed!

The last thing they played with before heading home was the medical center.  They had a mock ambulance, doctor equipment, and baby dolls in hospital bassinets.  Kamy carried the babies around while Caden played in the ambulance.  As you might have guessed, he was most interested in the two red buttons on the dash — one of which controlled the siren.  Both buttons got a work out.  =P

Overall we had a nice time.  For what the kids are able to do right now, I think it’s a little over priced for the few hours we spent there (3 adults, 1 kid, and parking;  Caden was free).  They do have a lot of exhibits and hands-on centers for elementary age kids, so I’m sure we will be back at some point.

  1. Looks like they were having a great time! Sometime with the price of entertainment…..fair, baseball, etc…..I don’t know how families can afford to attend!

Caden still looks so much like your dad! 🙂 Two beautiful children!
