Caden – December

Caden has been having so much fun at his gymnastics class.  He has always been physically active, but having the weekly class has given him a lot of confidence!  He jumps over, leans against, and balances on everything.  I even saw him walking on the handrails along our back deck.  If he can climb it, he will.  He’s such a monkey!

While out in Linden, Caden was very interested in holding the little green snake we caught.  It was a wiggly thing, but Caden did a great job holding tight enough to keep it from escaping, while still loose enough so he wouldn’t hurt the snake.  Caden wasn’t ready to let it go when it was time.  =)

The next morning, we took a walk before heading up to Hot Springs.  The kids were wearing their rain boots and walking in the creek.  Caden tried to climb over the log, but it was slippery and he fell right into the creek.  He wasn’t hurt, so it was really funny to watch and he had quite the surprised look on his face.  Unfortunately, rain boots just aren’t up to the task of keeping you dry when you fall INTO the creek.  That’s why I bring at least two extra sets of clothes, per kid per day, when we go to Linden.  Lol!

Once in Hot Springs, Caden enjoyed the museum just as much as Kamy and especially enjoyed sending all the balls flying with the water jets.  Someone was a bit wet after playing there!  Regine caught a crawdad down at the creek and set it on a rock for the kids to look at.  When it started to skitter away to the water, Caden reached down to grab it, but stopped when we told him not to or he’d get pinched.  So, he did the only other reasonable thing and stepped on it.  Now it can’t get away!  <rolls eyes>  Caden is all boy, all the time.  Oh … and he was wet then too!

Caden loves to help — especially in the kitchen.  He’s been very interested in washing lately and will routinely ask if he can clean my sink.  I almost always say yes, but he’s not allowed to use the hand sprayer (guess why not …) and can only use one squirt of dish soap.  Otherwise he’d never finish and everything would be soaked!  He also helped decorate both Christmas trees and did a great job.  He helped me put the filling in the mini pecan pies we made for the holidays and deliver a bunch of cookies to our neighbors.  I love his sweet spirit and how much he wants to participate!

School-wise, Caden still has a daily worksheet to do.  In December he worked on telling time, addition, connect the dots, greater than and less than, tracing, sequencing events, basic phonics, and measuring with a ruler.  He still watches everything that Kamy does and learns so much by just listening to me work with Kamy on her school work.  He’s a smart little cookie!
