Waterbug?

Growing up, my sister and I were nearly always in the water playing.  Especially when we’d go out to Linden, we were splashing and floating and diving all day long.  I remember my parents calling us “waterbugs” because we spent so much time in the water!

McKamy got her first taste of playing in the water last night at my parent’s house.  With a little assistance from Oma, Kamy had her toes in the water.  She didn’t seem to mind it at all and was content just sitting on the edge of the pool – mostly paying attention to the sunlight reflecting off the water.  Kamy’s always been fascinated by movement, so watching the light dance was a lot of fun!

We are signed up to start an infant swimming class here in two weeks.  It’s taught by the local swim school at a nice indoor facility and is for a full 11 weeks.  It’s for infants 2 – 5 months old and designed to introduce them to water and teach us mommas how to use bath time for bonding and games.  I’m sure it’s also a plug-in program for their swim lessons that start at 6 months old – so they’ve got a vested interest in getting us hooked early.  =)

Regardless, I am looking forward to watching McKamy discover water and see if she loves it as much as I did growing up.
